timefor : entanglements festival #1 South African exploratory music
In this third edition of timefor, we introduce entanglements festival, a festival of exploratory music that premiered in Johannesburg 23–26 April 2026 and the following up in Cape Town 1–3 May 2026. The festival is hosted by the Sonic Exploration Network of Southern Africa (SENSA).
Join us for two hours of adventurous listening, conversations, and insights into South Africa’s vibrant scene of exploratory music and sound art.
In this episode, you will hear excerpts from seven performances presented in Johannesburg, featuring Chantelle Gray, iSilo seSandi, non-synths, Tanz, Aragorn Eloff, Lolo, and Sci-fi Kym.
Joining me (Georg Dietzler) from the SENSA team are Rosemary Lombard and Sage Erasmus, live from Cape Town, and Aragorn Eloff, live from Johannesburg.
This program has been pre-produced on 26 May 2026 and marks the launch of a timefor series dedicated to entanglements festival. Broadcast every second month, the series will combine festival overviews with artist portraits in two-hour editions.
The entire series 'timefor' is hosted by Georg Dietzler and will air on the first Wednesday of every second month. Initiated by Cologne-based artist, sound art, experimental intermedia music organizer and networker Georg Dietzler together with Cape Town–based journalist, author, and DJ Atiyyah Khan/futurenostalgia_.
